Today we are happy to announce a partnership with teleoperator Telia, one of the leading telcos in the Nordic region. On top of the organizational agreement, we are also happy to inform of the arrival of hREDS youth program, an initiative that will kickoff later this year.
“The goal is to create a program to train young players on a weekly cycle. We provide training facilities with Helsinki REDS where young people can train and get new tools to improve their gaming experience. In addition to the experienced youth coaches growing the talent, there will also appearances from some of the best esports stars in our country,” promises Niklas Segercrantz from the Telia Esports team.
“In recent years, Telia has taken a giant leaps in promoting Finnish esport. Telcos are an important part of gaming and we are proud to be a part of the Telia program by bringing our skill set. In addition to developing ingame skills, it is important to guide young people to practice esports in balance with other aspects of life,” says General Manager Christer Kasurinen from Helsinki REDS.
The puzzle is ready.
Cooperation between Telia and Helsinki REDS enables the development of junior activities in Finland and the emergence of new talents for the future. Activities begin with a pilot experiment in Helsinki and are aimed at 13-17 year olds. More detailed plans are given in August at Assembly Summer 2019.
“Cooperation with REDS brings the last missing corner piece to our esports jigsaw puzzle. The vision is to make Finland a leading country in Esports and make gaming the biggest passion in the Nordic region. We are already able to offer Assembly enthusiasts Finland’s most important esport event and in the spring we started Telia Esports Serie, where players of all levels can measure themselves against each other. With the help of our esports organizations, we can help keep Finland at the top of the world in esports and now we can, through coaching, promote the other top-runners – according to our slogan Rise to the top,” Segercrantz says.
