Helsinki – 11th August – The Helsinki REDS proudly announces collaboration with Good Game Squad, Finnish eSports organization that combines youth work and coaching. Good Game Squad, known as GGS, has been one of the pioneers in Finnish junior coaching for the last three years and is now ready to expand to Overwatch with Helsinki REDS.
The new Overwatch junior team, GGS REDS, begins their weekly training sessions in September. Team will be training in eSports-center Score in Helsinki abd the team will be coached by Niklas “Nihvu” Hirvelä and his assistant coach Joonas “Lamoracke” Vastamäki.
Miika Pulkkinen, manager and youthworker in GGS, commented this collaboration:
This is an important step in Finnish junior coaching. We started GGS to show the importance of coaching and the support of young talents and hoped, that in the future there will be junior teams and big eSports-organizations all around in Finland. This collaboration of two organizations from Helsinki is a great way to bring player path to the next level. Young players get professional coaching and better support through their development and they already have important relations to pro-scene.
Head coach Niklas Hirvelä:
“When i started my coaching studies at Varala sports institute, I decided to focus on junior coaching and to develop a pilot-model with Varala, so in the future the eSports organizations could use it to start their own junior teams. Helsinki REDS was an obvious choice to start this project, since it is an organization that gives me a chance to build a quality path for the players to follow all the way from junior teams to pro player. With Good Game Squad here to accompany us, I believe we could do something special for young eSports talents living near Helsinki.
Player search is already open for 13-19 year old Overwatch talents, who can attend weekly trainings in Oulunkylä (Helsinki) every Wednesday evening. Please send your application here
